Iron Dog Schutzhund Club is a full USA-affiliated club in Morriston, Florida, 20 minutes west of Ocala. Our members have working titles ranging from BH to SchH/IPO/VPG III. We welcome all breeds and our dogs have included German Shepherd Dogs, Belgian Malinois, Rottweilers, Doberman Pinschers, Giant Schnauzers, Bouviers des Flandres, Australian Cattle Dogs, and American Bull Terriers. We train hard and are serious about titling our dogs and winning trials, but we also have fun, and want our dogs to enjoy their training. Our members enjoy a true spirit of camaraderie, helping and supporting each other.
We believe everyone has something to offer – and something to learn. We sponsor seminars and encourage members to learn from a variety of sources so each person can develop a personal style with which he or she is comfortable and successful. The training director, while setting the overall tone and providing direction and primary instruction, calls upon each member to help others with what he or she does best
We do not pattern train our dogs, so they do not become bored or conditioned to only one location or sequence of events. Instead, we teach our dogs to perform the exercises under a variety of circumstances so they truly understand the meaning of the commands. Some members also compete in other venues such as Obedience, Agility, DVG and WDA trials. We try to develop stable dogs that can be trusted to behave and perform in unfamiliar surroundings.
