Iron Dog training Saturday, February 6th
Late start today: Meet at 9am for tracking on fields off 150th. Then return to club field. Jason is on call but will join us for obedience & protection as soon as he's able, with any luck by 10/10:30am.
Iron Dog club trial Sat-Sun, February 27-28th
The flyer and entry form for our trial are now available.
Anticipated schedule: Trial will begin approximately 10am Saturday with BHs, Obedience and Protection. Tracking will be Sunday morning.
Note that USA rules allow doing a BH and another title (SchH A, SchH1, TR1, OB1) with the same dog at one trial, but the dog must pass the BH before attempting the second title. We will arrange the schedule on Saturday to accommodate anyone wishing to do so.
New Titles - Iron Dog versatility
Congratulations to Helen and Tyler for earning their VPG-3 at the Highway Schutzhund Club Trial on January 10, 2010. Then on January 24th, Helen and Tyler earned the second of 3 legs required for their AKC Companion Dog (CD) obedience title.
Congratulations also to Renee and Falka, who earned their TR3 (Tracking 3) title at the Florida Working Dog Club trial on January 23rd.
On January 24th, Anita Gard and Zeli finished their Rally Novice title. Zeli passed the Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test last December.
Second Annual Monthly Central Florida Schutzhund Training Event
Iron Dog will host the second "Central Florida Schutzhund Training Event" (CFSTE) on Saturday, Feb 20th, 2010. We have invited area clubs to participate in a day of Schutzhund training and camaraderie with a few basic rules:
- The entry fee will be a donation of food, drink or toilet paper
- Dogs entered in our February 26-28 trial will get preference for field and helper time
- We will ask for RSVPs so we can plan accordingly and make the event run smoothly
- We will hold a practice BH Traffic Test for dogs entered in our trial
- Participants are required to have fun
Our in-house photographer and videographer extraordinaire, Shelly Timmerman, promises to be on hand with equipment (and a pot of homemade chili), so expect a full-page report on our website soon after.
Iron Dog wins USA General Education Award
Iron Dog Schutzhund Club is the 2009 Southeast Region winner of the United Schutzhund Clubs of America General Education Committee Award. This award is given to clubs based on their activity and promotion of the sport, including encouraging youth participation, training new helpers, running well-organized trials, and holding public events.
Congratulations, everyone!
